Learn to crochet the Calypso Calypso Cardigan, a light and airy cardigan perfect for the hot summer months ahead. Simple and basic crochet stitches combined with a two panel construction make this a quick and easy design.

This pattern is accompanied with a step by step video tutorial. You can also find the inexpensive, ad-free printable here.
The Calypso Cardigan is the ultimate summer cardigan with a relaxed fit and loose sleeves, perfect for throwing over a lovely summer dress, tee and shorts or even as a cover up on the beach.

Designed entirely using a combination of just half double crochets and treble crochets giving the crochet cardigan a slight lace look and even has similarities to the popular mesh trend that’s literally everywhere this season. The Calypso Cardigan is the definition of summer vibes!
CONSTRUCTION
The Calypso Cardigan is constructed by crocheting two simple and identical panels that are worked lengthwise. Think of each panel as a very long rectangle with a sleeve! Once each panel is made we will then seam some stitches together to create the back panel, followed by some seaming up along the under edge of each sleeve and down along the sides of the crochet cardigan.
If you want to customize the length of the cardigan you will simply do less or more chains for shorter or longer cardigan but make sure you chain an odd number. The initial foundation chain you make is double the length that you need. This forms both the back panel and front panel at the same time.

ASSEMBLY
Lay both panels side by side like illustrated in the above diagram. Make sure the wrong side is facing upwards. Using a yarn needle seam 98(102, 104) sts from the bottom up leaving the remaining stitches of each panel unworked.
Next fold the cardigan in half and seam along the under edge of the sleeves and down along the sides. Weave in all ends. Turn your cardigan the right side out.
You are now finished your Calypso Crochet Cardigan!
