Hey guys! Today I have this crochet puff stitch beanie pattern. It’s actually a pretty old pattern of mine, just slightly updated.

Materials needed:
Weight 4 yarn
5mm crochet hook
Pom Pom of your choice.
Puff stitch: yarn over, insert hook into your stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop. Insert hook back into that same stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop. Insert hook once again into the same stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop. You should now have 7 loops on hook. Yarn over and pull through all 7 loops. Then ch 1 to close the stitch.
Pattern:
**Do not chain at the beginning of the round until otherwise stated**.
Ch 3. Slip stitch into the 1st ch to form a circle. Make 6 puff stitch into the middle of the ring. Slip stitch into the 1st puff stitch to close the round.
Next round: Make 2 puff stitches into each ch1-space all the way around. Join with a slip stitch to the 1st puff stitch of thisround. You should now have 12 puff stitches.
Next round: *Make 1 puff into 1st ch1-sp, then 2 puffs into the next ch1-sp. Repeat from * around. Join with slip stitch to first puff of this round. You should now have 18 puff stitches.
Next round: *Make a puff into each of next 2 ch1-spaces, then 2 puffs into the next ch1-sp. Repeat from * around. Join with slip stitch to 1st puff of this round. You should now have 24 puff stitches.
Next round: *Make a puff into each of the next 3 ch1-spaces, then 2 puffs into the next ch1-sp. Join with slip stitch to 1st puff of this round. You should now have 30 puff stitches.
Next round: *Make a puff into each of the next 4 ch1-spaces, then 2 puffs into the next ch1-sp. Join with a slip stitch to the 1st puff of this round. You should now have 36 puff stitches.
Next round: Make a puff into every ch1-sp all the way around. Slip stitch to the 1st puff to close the round. Repeat this row another 9 times. This will give a fitted style beanie. For a slouchier look add more rounds here.
Next round: Ch 1, sc into every puff stitch and ch1-sp around. Slip stitch into the 1st sc of this round to close.
Next round: Ch 3, dc into each stitch around. Slip stitch into top of beginning ch 3 to close the round.
Next round: Ch 3, *front post double crochet into next st, then back post double crochet into the next. Repeat from * around to end. Slip stitch into top of beginning ch 3 to close round.
Repeat last round 4 more times.
Fasten off and weave in all ends. Sew your Pom Pom to the top of your beanie and you are ready to go.

Do you have this in a kids pattern ages 6 to 8?
Hi Carrie! First, I want to thank you for sharing your pattern! My question is this: approximately how many yards are required to complete this beanie? Thank you!!
