Crochet Wheat Stitch Beanie Hat

Fall has finally arrive and I couldn’t be more happier. So today I have this fall inspired wheat stitch beanie.

Crochet hat pattern

Materials

weight 4 yarn

5.5 mm crochet hook

Yarn needle

Pom Pom (optional)

Abbreviations

ch chain

sc single crochet

dc double crochet

sl st. slip stitch

fpsc front post single crochet

fpdc front post double crochet

fpdc2tog front post double crochet 2 together

BLO back loops only

Puff stitch: yarn over, insert hook into stitch, pull up a loop, yarn over, insert hook into same stitch, pull up a loop, yarn over, insert hook into same stitch again, pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through all stitches.

Brim

Ch 9.

Sc in 2nd ch from hook. Sc to end. Turn

Ch 1, sc in BLO to end of row. Repeat this row until you have completed a total of 56 rows from the beginning.

Slip stitch both ends together to create a circular brim for your hat. Turn inside out so the slip stitch seam is facing the inside.

Main hat body

Row 1: Ch 1(not counted as a stitch), make 56 sc evenly along the edge of band, sl st to 1st sc to close the round.

Row 2: Ch3 (counts as 1st dc), 2 dc, *skip 1, 6 dc, repeat from * across. End the row by skipping 1, 3 dc. Sl st to top of beginning ch3 to close round.

Round 3: Fpsc around ch3 from previous row, ch2 ( the fpsc and ch2 will count as 1st fpdc) 2 fpdc, ch2, sl st into space, ch2, *6 fpdc, ch2, sl st into space, ch2, repeat from * around. End the round with 3 fpdc, sl st to top of ch2 to close round.

Round 4: Fpsc (around the fpsc from previous round), ch2, 2 fpdc, ch1, (puff st, ch1, puff st) into the sl st, ch1, *6 fpdc, ch1, (puff st, ch1, puff st) into the sl st, ch1, repeat from * around. End the round with 3 fpdc, then sl to top of beginning ch2 to close the round.

Round 5: Fpsc (around the fpsc from previous round), ch2, 2 fpdc, ch1, (puff st, ch1, puff st) in between the 2 puff sts from previous round, ch1, *6 fpdc, ch1, (puff st, ch1, puff st) in between the 2 puffs from previous round, ch1, repeat from * around. End the round with 3 fpdc, then sl st to top of beginning ch2 to close the round.

Round 6-7: Repeat round 5.

Round 8: Fpsc (around the fpsc from previous round), ch2, 2 fpdc, ch2, sl st into middle of the 2 puff sts, ch2, 3 fpdc, ch1, *3 fpdc, ch2, sl st into middle of the 2 puff sts, ch2, 3 fpdc, ch1, repeat from * to end, sl st to top of beginning ch2 to close the round.

Round 9: Fpsc (around the fpsc from previous round), ch2, 2 fpdc, ch1, skip over the puff sts,3 fpdc, ch2, sl st into space, ch2, * 3 fpdc, ch1, skip over the puff sts, 3 fpdc, ch2, sl st into the space, ch2, repeat from * to end, sl st to top of beginning ch2 to close the round.

Round 10: Fpsc (around the fpsc from previous round), ch2, 5 fpdc, ch1, (puff st, ch1, puff st) into the sl st of previous round, ch1, *6 fpdc, ch1, (puff st, ch1, puff st) into the sl st from previous round, ch1, repeat from * to end, sl st to top of beginning ch2 to close the round.

Round 11: Fpsc (around the fpsc from previous round), ch2, 5 fpdc, ch1, (puff st, ch1, puff st) into middle of the 2 puff sts from previous round, ch1, * 6 fpdc, ch1, (puff st, ch1, puff st) into the middle of the 2 puff sts from previous round, ch1, repeat from * to end, sl st into top of beginning ch2 to close the round.

Round 12-13: Repeat row 11.

Round 14: Fpsc (around fpsc from previous round), ch2, 2 fpdc, ch1, 3 fpdc, ch2, sl st in middle of 2 puff sts from previous round, ch2, * 3 fpdc, ch1, 3 fpdc, ch2, sl st into middle of 2 puff sts from previous rounds, ch2, repeat from * to end, sl st to top of beginning ch2 to close the round.

Round 15: Fpsc (around fpsc from previous round), ch2, 2 fpdc, ch2, sl st into space, ch2, 3 fpdc, ch1, Skip over puff sts, * 3 fpdc, ch2, sl st into space, ch2, 3 fpdc, ch1, skip over the puff sts, repeat from * to end, sl st to top of beginning ch2 to close the round.

Round 16: Fpsc (around the fpsc from previous round), ch2, 2 fpdc, ch1, (puff st, ch1, puff st) into sl st from previous round, ch1, * 6 fpdc, ch1, (puff st, ch1, puff st) into sl st from previous round, ch1, repeat from * around. End the round with 3 fpdc, then sl st into top of beginning ch2 to close the round.

Round 17: Fpsc (around the fpsc from previous round), ch 2, 2 fpdc, ch1, (puff st, ch1, puff st) in middle of the 2 puff sts from previous round, ch1, * 6 fpdc, ch1, (puff st, ch1, puff st) into middle of the 2 puff sts from previous round, ch1, repeat from * around. End the round with 3 fpdc, then sl st into top of beginning ch2 to close the round.

Round 18: Repeat round 8.

Round 19: Fpsc (around fpsc from previous round), *fpdc2tog, fpdc, repeat from * all the way around.

Fasten off leaving a long tail. Thread the tail through a yarn needle, and weave through remaining sts. Then pull tail tight so the top of the hat cinches in. Secure the end of your yarn. Sew your favorite Pom Pom to the top of your hat and you are ready to go!
