Learn to knit the Sagewood Cardigan, the perfect everyday piece to get you from season to season. Knit it in a light cotton yarn for the cooler days of spring and summer or use warmer wool blends to keep the chill away in cooler months.
When designing this cardigan I wanted something that was easy for an adventurous beginner. The cardigan uses basic knit and purl stitches with very minimal shaping used in the sleeves. Sometimes I feel that newbies to the knit world will look at a pattern and immediately see lots of shaping with crazy stitch combinations and are turned off the idea of knit garments completely. With the Sagewood Cardigan you won’t have to worry about any of that!
CONSTRUCTION
The Sagewood Cardigan is worked from the bottom up in five separate pieces: a back panel, two identical front panels and two sleeves. The back and two front panels begin with the bottom ribbed hem and the sleeves will begin with the ribbed cuffs. Once all the pieces are knit and seamed together we will knit the ribbed collar directly into the cardigan.

FINISHING
Block pieces to measurements.
Seam across the shoulders and then seam the sleeves to the body. Then seam the side seams of the cardigan.
NECKBAND
With the right side facing, and beginning at the bottom inner corner of the right front panel, pick up sts evenly all the way up to the neckline and continuing down to the opposite side. The stitch count here isn’t as important as working evenly around. Be sure you pick up an even number of stitches.
RIBBING
Row 1: *K1, P1; rep from the * across.
Rows 2-14: rep row 1.
Cast off and weave in all ends.

I love your patterns. They are clearly written and easy to follow. Thank you!
I often “pin” patterns that I cannot immediately make. Is there anyway I can do this through your website?
I enjoy both knitting and crocheting. Thank you for providing this pattern.

I’m not very experienced of a knitter but would like to try making the Sagebrush cardigan just posted. Is there a way to print out the pattern so that I don’t have to have my computer up to follow it? I love your patterns Nancy

This is my first sweater and I have a question about the sizing. Is the finished bust measurement the actual size of the sweater? I’m just wondering as the sweater doesn’t meet in the front so I’m unsure about which size to knit.
