Make your very own crochet teddy bear jacket in just a couple days. With it’s thick faux fur yarn and basic crochet stitches, this crochet jacket works up very quick. The entire jacket is crocheted entirely using half double crochets and minimal shaping, this crochet jacket is perfect for anyone including the adventurous beginner!

CONSTRUCTION
The Teddy Jacket is constructed by crocheting one large square back panel, working from the bottom up. We will then crochet the two front panels directly into the back. Both sleeves are worked from the bottom up and later seamed to the body of the jacket. Next we will seam along the sides of the jacket before we begin crocheting the collar separately and seaming to the neckline of the jacket.
Lastly we will make two simple pockets and attach to the body of the jacket.
The jacket can be easily customized to be longer or shorter by simply making more or less rows.
YARN
Our crochet Teddy Jacket uses Sirdar Touch, a super bulky faux fur yarn made from a mix of nylon and polyester. Since crocheting this jacket this yarn has sadly been discontinued but other good substitutes include Sirdar Alpine or Knit Picks Fable Fur.
Of course you can also make this jacket using just regular yarn if the Teddy style is not up your street. Just make sure you match gauge listed in the pattern.

Yarn – Sirdar Touch – super bulky/weight 6 – 67m (73yds) per 100g ball
Approximately 7(7, 7, 8, 8, 9) balls
Hook – 9mm
Notions – yarn needle, interlocking stitch markers to help with seaming.
CROCHET TEDDY JACKET PATTERN
BACK PANEL
Ch 48(53, 57, 60, 66, 71)
Row 1: hdc in 2nd ch from hook, and in each ch across, turn [47(52, 56, 59, 65, 70)] hdc.
Row 2: ch 1, hdc in each st across, turn.
Rep row 2 until you have completed a total of 34(36, 38, 40, 42, 44) rows.
*Alteration note: add or subtract rows here for a longer or shorter fit.
Do not fasten off. We will now begin working the front panels directly into the back panel.
FIRST FRONT PANEL
Row 35(37, 39, 41, 43, 45): ch 1, hdc in next 22(25, 27, 29, 31, 34) sts, turn.
Rep last row until the end of row 68( 72, 76, 80, 84, 88).
Fasten off.
SECOND FRONT PANEL
Count 22(25, 27, 29, 31, 34) stitches in from the other edge and attach yarn to that stitch.
Row 35(37, 39, 41, 43, 45): ch 1, hdc in each st across, turn.
Rep last row until the end of row 68(72, 76, 80, 84, 88).
Fasten off.
SLEEVES
Ch 21(21, 21, 23, 23, 23)
Row 1: hdc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, turn. [20(20, 20, 22, 22, 22)]hdc.
Row 2: ch 1, hdc in each st across, turn.
Row 3: ch 1, 2hdc in first st, hdc in each st across, placing 2hdc in last st, turn.
Row 4: ch 1, hdc in each st across, turn.
Row 5: ch 1, hdc in each st across, turn.
Row 6: ch 1, 2hdc in first st, hdc in each st across, placing 2hdc in last st, turn.
Rep rows 4-6 until you have 32(34, 36, 38, 40, 42) sts.
Continue in rows of hdc WITHOUT increasing until you have a total of 32 rows completed.
Fasten off leaving a long tail.
COLLAR
Ch 49(49, 49, 51, 51, 51)
Row 1: hdc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, turn. [48(48, 48, 50, 50, 50)] hdc.
Row 2: ch 1, hdc in each st across, turn.
Rows 3-7: rep row 2.
Fasten off leaving a long tail.
POCKETS
Ch 15
Row 1: hdc in 2nd ch from hook, and in each ch across, turn [14 hdc]
Row 2: ch 1, hdc in each st across, turn.
Rows 3-11: rep row 2.
Fasten off leaving a long tail.
ASSEMBLY
Lay the front panels on top of the back panel.
Whip stitch along the sides of the jacket making sure to leave holes for the arms.
Turn jacket right side out.
Whip stitch the collar to the neckline. Use interlocking stitch markers to hold the collar in place while you stitch to together.
Next stitch pockets to your jacket. I stitched all the way around the pocket leaving one side open. You can leave the top open like a regular pocket if you prefer.
Weave in all your ends.

Thanks for All your wonderful patterns. I have a quietion to the Teddy jacket; it says that you shall make 32 sts but afterwards it says; make 32 rows without increasing. Am i suppose to make 32 rows more after increasing ( without increasing)?
