Learn to crochet this quick and easy crochet crochet. Made using repetitive rows and stitches this pattern is suited to any level of crochet ability, even a beginner.

The Iona [eye-oh-na] sweater is both simple yet elegant with a hint of subtle texture throughout. I wanted to design something that was a little bit fitted to the body, something that was quick to make, had a little texture yet completely suitable to a beginner crochet lover.

The Iona Crochet sweater is an easy crochet pullover that is perfect for throwing on with jeans, leggings or just lazying around.
For this design I just used simple half double crochets and double crochets that are crossed over giving a beautiful subtle texture.
The sweater is constructed in 4 panels – front, back and 2 sleeves and uses just 2 main stitches, the half double crochet and crossed double crochets. All panels are worked from the bottom up beginning with the ribbed hem or cuff, then we crochet along the long edge of the ribbing. Once all panels are crocheted we sew together and begin the ribbed neckline.
The written pattern also includes some notes throughout to make the sweater slightly cropped or if you prefer to extend the length of the sweater.
This sweater is designed to be true to size but if you want a more relaxed, oversized fit just simply make a bigger size.

YARN
The Iona Crochet Sweater was made using Red Heart Soft yarn which is a weight 4 acrylic yarn. This yarn is quickly becoming one of my favourites due the beautiful soft touch of the yarn. I find there is also great definition in each stitch and the yarn comes in a huge selection of shades, making it perfect for everyone.
Of course any yarn will work fine for this project as long as it’s a weight 4 yarn. You could use a wool blend for a warmer sweater or you can even change things up and use a cotton yarn so you can wear it during the spring or summer months. the choices are endless.

Marvellous! Great ! Thanks a lot
You make it all look so easy, I just have big arms and worry anything will be tight there.
In the video you add 2 hdc at the begging of the row after the cross double st row but here you did not write it what should I do?
Does the turning chain counts as a hdc?
