Don’t you just love the center design portion of this top? It reminds me of a fish bone. You might be thinking that this crochet top looks difficult to make but I reassure you that it’s really quite easy.

Notes:

The top in this pattern is made to fit a size small/medium but if you want it bigger just make a chain long enough to reach from one side of the ribs under breasts to the other side. Make sure this number is divisible by 2 then add 2 extra chains.

Materials:

Weight 3 cotton yarn

3mm crochet hook.

Ch 92. Dc into 3rd ch from hook. Dc to end. Turn.

Ch 2(counts as first dc), dc2tog, dc to last 3 sts, dc2tog, dc in last st. Turn. Repeat this row 5 more times.

Place marker into the 40th stitch from the right. This is the center stitch. If you began with a different number of chains for your foundation row, you will place your marker on a different center stitch. Make sure whatever stitch you place your marker on there are the same number of stitches on each side of the marker.

Ch 2(counts as first dc), dc2tog, dc into next 34 sts ( for other sizes make double crochets until there are 2 unworked sts between the marker and last worked dc). I have a question, after I place stitch marker and crochet next row that begins the fishbone design, where it says to skip next dc and the box, what is “the box” in the remaining lines? I had to make mine larger and can’t follow by stitches. Please help.

I actually did this with a scrap ball of Caron One Pound. I just used a fairly tight gauge and a 3.75mm hook, turned out perfect!
