Are you looking to crochet your first sweater? This crochet batwing sweater is a simple and easy crochet pattern that’s perfect for beginner crocheters.
This free crochet sweater pattern is accompanied with a step by step video tutorial.

One of my most requested tutorials to date is a crochet batwing sweater, so I had to create one. I love absolutely everything about this sweater, especially the relaxed fit. Designed with a slightly oversized fit, ribbed hems and basic stitches, this sweater is a perfect pattern to work up.
This simple crochet batwing sweater also features long ribbed sleeve cuffs and sturdy ribbed collar.Worked up in alternating rows of half double crochet and double crochet, this sweater is the perfect choice for someone who has never made a sweater before but always longed to!
The body of the sweater is worked from the bottom up and in two separate pieces that are sewn together. We will then crochet our ribbed collar that is worked into the neckline. Finally we will crochet two ribbed cuffs for the sleeves and they too are sewn into the body of the sweater.

YARN
For this project I used Drops Karisma in the colour Off White. This wonderful yarn is a Dk or weight 3 yarn and consists of 100% wool. I’ve used this yarn on several occasions in the past and it is one of my favourite yarns to date.
Drops Karisma is a superwash treated yarn making it machine washable and perfect for every day wear. This wonderfully soft yarn has great stability and the stitch definition is so pretty. With lots of colours to chose from in the range, there is a shade to suit everyone.

You are now finished your crochet batwing sweater!
Hey Carrie, I have been looking for a crochet batwing pattern. Thank you for sharing, love your work I have crochet many of your patterns for myself and family. Thanks again.💕
This is such a cosy sweater! Gonna love wearing this when the cold weather makes a return in autumn. Really enjoyed making this!
Is there a printable version?
How to do I convert this beautiful batwing sweater pattern to a knit pattern. I am not good at crochet. I am a knitting beginner and about to finish the summer knit pattern you have a video of. This would be my first sweater, I have knitted. I am so very excited to see the finish result 😊 Thank you for the video and your voice is very soothing.
