Learn to make this quick and easy knit beanie hat. The Athena Beanie is the perfect knit cable beanie hat for Fall and Winter. Chunky and squishy, this knit hat is a perfect pattern to follow along for even the most adventurous beginners.

The Athena Beanie features a nice thick ribbed brim and lots of squishy cables. It is perfect paired with a cute faux fur pom pom or perhaps even a regular yarn pom pom. Both will look stunning!

So recently I did a poll on my Instagram and asked you all if you would like to see some knit patterns and guess what? Eighty-five percent of you said YES! I have to admit I was absolutely thrilled. Knit beanies are one of my most favourite things to make. Years ago, before I even started this blog, I knit every kind of beanie hat imaginable, so now I have a large collection of patterns waiting to be shared with you all.

I know some of you might shy away from cable knitting but please trust me when I say this is a pretty easy hat to make. If you know how to knit and purl, then this beanie hat will be no problem to you at all.

YARN

The Athena Beanie uses Stylecraft Special Chunky which is a 100% acrylic yarn. This yarn is classed as a weight 5 or bulky/chunky yarn. It is machine washable, incredibly soft and has lovely stitch definition. Stylecraft Special Chunky comes in an array of colours so there is definitely a shade to suit everyone.

Other yarn options for this knit beanie hat are Paintbox Simply Chunky, Hayfield Bonus Chunky, Yarn Bee Tender Touch or Knit Picks Brava Bulky.

Hi. I’m really enjoying knitting this Bennie hat. Cables are ver new to me. This pattern is so simple to follow. I have small question. Is there a couple of mistakes on it. It looks like you have 2 row twelves. Also row 14. Should it not start with the cable stitch?

Again thanks for all your awesome work. All the best.
    Mairead.
