Today’s pattern is slightly different than all my previous patterns in that it’s solely knitted. I call it the bubble knit beanie.
The bubble texture of this hat feels amazing. Knit with super chunky yarn this little dream is like a bubble of squishiness.
Materials needed:
7mm circular knitting needle
Super bulky yarn
Stitch marker
Yarn needle
Note:
Knit5b (knit 5 below): slip the next stitch off the left needle and drop it down 4 rows. ( there will be 4 strands of yarn above the stitch). Put the right needle into the front of the free stitch and UNDER the 4 loose strands. Knit from this position, catching the loose strands behind the stitch. Give yarn a gentle pull before knitting the next stitch to take up the extra slack. If this stitch is confusing there are several tutorials on YouTube.
Pattern:
Cast on 50 sts.
Begin with a k1, p1 rib. Continue in this pattern until you have 9 rows of ribbing completed.
Round 10: k to end of the row increasing 3 sts evenly across the round.
Rounds 11-14: k to end of round.
Round 15: *k3, knit5b. Repeat from * to last st, k1.
Round 16-20: k to end of round.
Round 21: k1, *knit5b, k3. Repeat from * to end of round.
Rounds 22-26: k to end of round.
Rounds 15-26 set your pattern so repeat these rows until you have 4 rows of bubbles.
Next round: *k3, knit5b. Repeat from * to last stitch, k1.
Next 2 rounds: k to end.
Round 1 of decreasing: k2 together all the way around. K last stitch.
Round 2 of decreasing: repeat last round.
Round 3 of decreasing: repeat last round.
Cut yarn leaving a long tail. Thread the end of your yarn through a yarn needle and weave through the remaining stitches. Secure with a stitch or two in the inside of your beanie. Add a Pom Pom of your choice if desired.
this hat pattern was a little bit confusing at first but as soon as I learned how to do it it turned out amazing and I think this pattern is really nice
This pattern looks amazing! I’m having a really hard time finding 7mm knitting needles. Which ones did you use and where should I look for some?
Love your blog!
Are all the rows knit or is it stocking stitch?
