This little number is the perfect crochet tee to wear and just simply lounge around in. It is so comfortable to wear and I designed it so it can fit any body type. I have not given a specific number of chains for each size because this is a very fitted top but I give details on how to adjust for any size.
Materials:
Any weight 3/Dk/8 ply yarn of your choice. You can honestly use any weight but this weight is my preferred yarn for this particular top.
5mm crochet hook
Measuring tape
Yarn needle
Stitch marker.
Abbreviations:
ch chain
slst slip stitch
sc single crochet
ch1-sp chain 1 space
Back panel:
Start by measuring around your bust. Divide that number by 2. Next make a chain to the length of that number but in multiples of 2+2.
Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook, *ch1, skip 1, sc in next, repeat from * across to end. Turn.
Row 2: ch1, sc in first sc, ch1, skip next ch1-sp, *sc in next sc, ch1, skip next ch1-sp, repeat from * across, sc in last sc, turn.
Repeat row 2 until your desired length. It should measure from your shoulders to wherever you want it to stop, whether that be you waist, hip etc.
When you have reached your preferred length fasten off leaving a long tail.
Front panel:
Repeat the same process as for the back panel. You will keep making rows and rows like you did for the back panel.
Next you will need to decide where your v neck will begin. Place a stitch marker in the middle ch1-sp of the front panel.
Next row: ch1, sc in first sc,* ch1, skip ch1-sp, sc in next sc, repeat from * until you reach the sc right before the ch1-sp. Turn.
Next row: ch1, skip first sc, sc in next ch1-sp, sc in next sc, *ch1, skip 1, sc in next sc, repeat from * across.Turn.
Next row: ch1, sc in first stitch, *ch1, skip next ch1-sp, sc in next sc, repeat from * across until 2 stitches remain, ch1, skip ch1-sp, sc2tog. Turn.
Next row: ch1, skip first sc, sc in next ch1-sp, sc in next sc, *ch1, skip ch1-sp, sc in next sc, repeat from * across. Turn.
Next row: ch1, sc in first stitch, *ch1, skip next ch1-sp, sc in next sc, repeat from * across until 2 stitches remain, ch1, skip ch1-sp, sc2tog. Turn.
Repeat last 2 rows a further 10 more times. The more rows of decrease you do the wider the v neck will be, so if you want it small do less rows of decrease, and do more rows of decrease if you want the v neck wider.
Next we will do regular rows without any decrease:
Next row: ch1, sc in first sc, *ch1, skip next ch1-sp, sc in next sc, repeat from * across. Turn.
Repeat last row until piece is same length as the back panel. Fasten off leaving a long tail.
Next attach yarn to the sc on the other side of marker:
Ch1, sc in same st, *ch1, skip next ch1-sp, sc in next sc, repeat from * across.
Next row: ch1, sc in first sc, *ch1, skip next ch1-sp, sc in next sc, repeat from * across until you reach last ch1-sp and sc,next you ch1, then sc2tog(over the last ch1-sp and sc) Turn.
Next row: ch1, skip first sc, sc in next ch1-sp, sc in next sc, *ch1,skip next ch1-sp, sc in next sc, repeat from * across. Turn.
Next row: ch 1, sc in first sc, *ch1, skip next ch1-sp, sc in next sc, repeat from * until 2 sc remain, ch1, skip ch1-sp, sc2tog. Turn.
Repeat last 2 rows until you reach the same number of stitches you have on the other side.
Then do regular rows without decreasing like you did on the other side. Fasten off leaving a long tail.
Sleeves:
Make a chain long enough to go around your upper arm, but make sure your chain is in multiples of 2+2.
Repeat row 2 until you have 4 inches. If you want a shorter/longer sleeve do less/more rows here. Fasten off leaving long tail.
Assembly:
Lay your back panel on a hard surface. Next lay the fron panel on top and sc across the shoulders to attach the two pieces together. Now lay the entire piece out flat. Grab a sleeve and find the middle ch1-sp. Attach a stitch marker to that ch1-sp then align it up with the shoulder seam of the top. Connect the sleeve to the shoulder seam with the stitch marker. Now sc across to attach. Repeat for the other sleeve.
Now fold your tee over and sc up along the edges. Turn the tee right side out. I wanted a raw edge around my neckline but feel free to sc around it if you like. You can attach your yarn near the shoulder seam and sc all the way around the neckline. When you reach the first sc you made, slst to close.
Weave in all your ends and enjoy you new crochet tee.
An easy pattern, well demonstrated. Great for crocheting a first time garment. Thank you
I was glancing through the instructions because I’ve never made a top or any real clothing and my first thought was ohh I may be able to make this. I’m not ready quite yet to try but it will definitely be the one I attempt. Thank you.
Hello,
I would love to make an attempt on this tee but I don’t quite understand how to measure my size.
I measure 90 cm around the bust. Should I then do a chain that lengths 48 (2 x 23 + 2) chains? Or should I do a chain that lengths 45 cm and then just add 2 chains at the end?
Would really appreciate som guidance, so I can start this amazing project!
Count the number of chains that gets you to 45cm. It should be an even number, divisible by 2. If not, add chains until to get to a number divisible by 2 that measures close to 45 cm. Then add 2 more chains.
