So you’re ready to ditch summer and say a big hello to Fall? Well I got you covered. This cozy turtleneck sweater is simple and easy to crochet and perfect for beginner crocheters!

This crochet turtleneck sweater is cozy and slightly oversized with a simple ribbed hemming. It really is the perfect sweater to get you through Fall and Winter.

The sweater is worked from the bottom up, with two identical panels which are the front and back of the sweater. Sleeves are crocheted starting with the ribbed cuffed and sewn in later. Lastly the over sized ribbed collar is made and then sewn onto the body of the sweater

YARN

For this project I used Drops Paris. This yarn is quickly becoming one of my all time favorites to work with. The color I chose was Off White but there are so many other colors in the range. I’m thinking the next color I make will be in a rust color.

Drops Paris is an aran/worsted weight yarn. It is 100% cotton and a delight to work with. The stitch definition is simply stunning. Of course any brand of yarn will work for this sweater, but I would recommend you aim for a yarn that is on the thicker end of the weight 4 spectrum.

So why did I choose to make my sweater using 100% cotton? I wanted something breathable seeing as the weather hasn’t quite turned to freezing yet. I didn’t want something too warm…just yet! But boy, this sweater is heavy due to the cotton yarn, but at the same time not too hot, if that makes any sense to you at all!

The sizing guide follows size S(M, L, XL, 2XL, 3XL)

Sample is a size S shown on a 5’8″ model.

Ch 1 does NOT count as a stitch.

Ch 2 DOES count as a stitch.

Oh how I love your patterns and this one will be on my hook for sure!
Currently working on your Easy V-neck Ribbed Sweater and love how it’s coming together. I appreciate that you have both written instructions and a video, it really helps to get a visual. Thank you!!!!!

I’ve very recently become one of your subscribers, Carrie – you clever and generous Irish person ! 🙂
And this aran-weight cotton number makes me happy that I have: it’s an absolute beauty.
My only problem – as it’s going to be with anything you make available -is the yarn: Downunder it’s more expensive than you would believe to have yarn shipped over.
Do you think that any cotton of the same weight would do ? – oh, silly, question .. how could you know ?!
I’ll see what I can lay hands on, and then ask ..

How much yarn does a size medium take?

I love getting the patterns but have not been able to figure out how to condense them and print them out for use. I only get them in my email.. Is there a secret?

Yes any cotton yarn will work as long as its the same weight yarn. The yarn brands that I mention in my patterns are just a suggestion so please don’t ever feel that you have to run out and grab the same. Also, this sweater can be made using any fibre of yarn so please feel free to use whatever you wish. Thank you so much for following along with me. I really do appreciate it xx

Yes I’d like to know how to save them to. Rather than going to my emails each time.. Is there a way to download the pattern and save it?

I might do it in two colours, which I bought for another purpose but will happily use for this.
Many thanks from Geelong, Victoria, Australia.

Hi Carrie, I’m new to your Chanel & to crochet. I live in England on the south coast. I’ve decided to try your turtleneck but in Aran. I’m on my second attempt at casting on with the 11 chain, I’m making the large size. However, after doing 4 rows of the rib, it doesn’t look deep enough, compared to the photo. It measures 2”. Please can you give me some advice on tension etc, number of stitches/rows, looking at the jumper on the model, the rib band looks much more than 2 inches deep. I’d be grateful for some help. Many thanks.

I’m thrilled to be starting this turtleneck for my next project!
The only thing I want to check before I dig in would be gauge. I don’t see a gauge swatch mentioned anywhere. My projects tend to run a tad bigger (usually) than my gauze swatches would predict, so I’ve learned to compensate. I just don’t want to guess wrong and mess up this gorgeous pattern.
Thank you! I’m super glad I found you and your designs!

Has anyone had a problem with the sweater curling or becoming wavy? It began to curl after the first row of the body. I followed the directions and changed the hook to a 5mm after completing the ribbing with a 4mm. Any hints ot tips????😗😗😗

I started this pattern and I too can’t see the collar working out to look like the picture. No gauge is a concern also.

Can you please give me the gauge for this sweater?

I copy them from the web site onto a word document, edit as necessary and and add my own comments. Then I can save the pattern on my computer and print out a customized copy for me.

Did you ever get a reply regarding no gauge. I’ve never seen a sweater pattern before that did not show gauge. Ugh!
