Introducing this season’s favorite, the Acres Grove Cardigan. You will love creating this fashionable and easy crochet cardigan pattern. The entire body is worked seamlessly in one piece and sleeves are crocheted separately, giving this cardigan a smooth a delightful experience to make knocking off as little as possible in the way of seaming. The best part? The length of the cardigan can be fully customizable ensuring the perfect fit for your unique style.

To make your crocheting experience run smoothly, the pattern includes a step-by-step tutorial in size small, which you can find on our Youtube channel. There you will find some helpful steps in creating the beautiful stitches used throughout this pattern.

CARDIGAN CONSTRUCTION

Our Acres Grove Cardigan is worked lengthways meaning the foundation chain runs the length of the cardigan and sleeves. To alter the length of the cardigan you will simply add more chains – full alteration instructions are provided in the pattern.

The body of the Acres Grove Cardigan is worked entirely in one piece. The sleeves, ribbed hemline and collar are crocheted separately and sewn in later.

Creating this cardigan is suitable for an adventurous beginner who is looking to elevate there crochet skills and is not afraid to step out of their comfort zone and make a beautiful and stunning piece. With a four row pattern repeat consisting of the herringbone half double crochet and a new stitch I like to call, the Forked Slip Stitch, this cardigan worked up relatively quick.

To assemble the cardigan, simply sew at the shoulders, then attach the sleeves to the armholes. Both the hemline and collar are worked in simple back loop slip stitches and sewn to the cardigan to polish the look off. Why do I not crochet these directly in to cardigan? I find by doing so does not give the piece a smooth transition, sometimes gathering in at the bottom. Crocheting these pieces separately give it a better look in my opinion.

MATERIALS

Yarn – Drops Paris – weight 4/aran – 100% cotton – 50g/75m/82yds

Approximately 16(17, 18, 19, 19, 20) balls

4.5 mm crochet hook (or size needed to obtain gauge)

YARN SUBSTITUTION

The Acres Grove Cardigan is worked up Drops Paris, a worsted weight cotton yarn, perfect for transitioning into the cooler months ahead. This yarn does lean slightly into the thicker end of medium weight yarns so keep that in mind when looking for alternatives. Always remember to do a gauge swatch when substituting any yarn.

If using cotton yarn is not you preference you can most certainly use a different fiber. Wool blends would look and feel stunning especially during the winter months as they will give extra warmth and coziness.
